“My son Ryan was a delayed talker, and he didn’t really speak until the age of 4. When he did start speaking his speech was very limited when communicating. He would only say one-word phrases when he needed something. Due to the lack of communication, I would often misunderstand what he wanted which would cause him to have tremendous meltdowns and tantrums from being frustrated. I felt so helpless and frustrated myself. There were so many days where I would just cry because I just wanted to be able to understand my son and his needs. Something that is so easy and simple for other parents was such a challenge for me.
Then we came across our angel on earth Kimberly, the Speech Fairy! She truly is a gem and I feel so fortunate to have met her. Not only did she help my son articulate his words, but she got him to say sentences! Yes sentences!!!
She also was very helpful to me. She taught me as a parent how to deal with different situations rather than panic like I usually would. In such a short period of time I saw my son flourish and just grow and become his own person with a silly personality. Now we barely ever have tantrums. Instead we have negotiations for things he wants. I never dreamed I would have two-way communication with my son. Who knew he was such a talker with so much to say! Having my son speak non-stop makes my heart so full, it wants to burst!
Kimberly truly is a Speech Fairy, she is patient, understanding and really knows how to keep your child engaged. Even very strong-willed children who are hard to convince, like mine. If you ever get the chance to work with her, consider yourself extremely lucky. She not only helped us, but she has become part of our family, we love her and are forever grateful to her!
